Some moments remain special no matter how much time passes. Being featured by National Geographic Traveller UK in their story about Girona’s extraordinary gastronomic scene is certainly one of them.
The article explored how Girona has evolved into one of Spain’s most exciting culinary destinations, not only through its Michelin-starred restaurants and internationally recognised chefs, but also through its markets, local producers, family traditions, and deeply rooted food culture.
What meant the most to us was the way the story captured the human side of gastronomy. Beyond fine dining, it celebrated discovering Girona through its people, flavours, and everyday traditions, which has always been at the heart of what we try to share through Girona Food Tours.
Since 2016, our goal has never simply been to “show people where to eat,” but to help visitors experience Girona in a more personal, authentic, and connected way. Through market visits, conversations, local stories, and shared meals, we’ve always believed that food is one of the best ways to understand a place and its culture.
As a small local company, being included in a publication like National Geographic Traveller UK was incredibly meaningful. Not simply because of the recognition itself, but because it reflected something we have long believed: that authentic, locally rooted experiences continue to resonate with travellers from around the world.
Looking back a year later, we remain deeply grateful to have been part of the story they chose to tell about Girona.
